TSH is a pituitary signal to the thyroid. In many hypothyroid dogs it is high, but a normal TSH does not fully exclude thyroid disease.

When to test
Consider it together with T4 in a dog with lethargy, weight gain, coat change or cold intolerance. Do not start hormone replacement on a TSH cassette alone.
